Murphy's Law

Whatever can can go wrong will go wrong...
and at the worst possible moment...

While we're heading back to Manila from our company beach party...
Jas and I were having a discussion about not opening the fruit jelly
Sir Mike gave us. The moment she opened it, the juice squirted and
droplets of juice were in her pants and the seat.

I told her that I choose not to open it, and just eat it later.
This way, I can prevent the occurrence of Murphy' Law.
At least for the time being...

We were asleep most of the time before we reach Lipa City.
Before we left Lipa City, I was awake again and checking
any addresses in the stores along the road, so I could tell my
mom where am I.

A few minutes more, we find ourselves entering
STAR (Southern Tagalog Arterial Road).
There were moments when I felt something bad was gonna
happen, so I was not able to get to sleep again.

A couple minutes after the company van entered STAR tollway,
We heard an explosion coming from the rear of the van, where Jas,
Che-ann, her niece, and I were sitting. It was followed by some cracking
sounds, as the rim of the tire scratches through the rocky freeway.

Our rear right tire just blew. The van slowed down, and Mang Erning
parked the van along the side of the road. The road was dark.
The only lights you can see are the lights coming from vehicles
passing by, most of them running at top speed. It was dangerous.

Sir Mike and Mang Erning were talking, they both agreed that we
were still lucky that it was one of the rear tires, because if it
was one of the front tires, even Mang Erning doesn't know if he will
be able to control the van. I didn't know this, because I don't
own a car and I don't drive. I just realized the severity of
the situation that we've just went through.

Just imagine, a van with 9 people and 2 kids, running at 100
on a freeway with all other types of vehicles running like hell...
Thank God we're still alive!

One of the company rented buses stopped and Mang Jerry got off and
helped us. Together with Mang Erning, they prepared the tools to
replace the busted tire. Sir Mike also laid the early warning device
for our safety.

We came to another problem when the car jack was too high to fit in.
Mang Jerry told the boys to lift the van together in order for
Mang Erning to slide the car jack in place.

Sir Mike, Dennis, Marc, Mang Jerry and I tried to lift the van.
After 2 attempts, we were able to get it in place.
The van was heavy even if it was empty. Whew!
After a few more minutes, they've finally replaced the blown tire.
And we hit the road once more.

There rest of trip was traffic, traffic, and more traffic.
I was the last to be dropped-off MRT Ayala Station.
It was already 9:30PM so I've decided not to take MRT anymore.

I walked to the "unloading area" across Rustan's department store.
It seemed that no bus has arrived for a while because there
were a bunch of people in the area. So I decided to try a new
option, FX to dapitan for P30. Normally, I can get home for P42,
that is (Bus + FX + Jeep). This one would cost me P45, (FX + Jeep + Jeep).
My cheapest and fastest option is still (MRT + LRT + Jeep) for P32.

I thought I could get to UST fast but just like Murphy's Law states...
The FX was caught in heavy traffic. After almost an hour, we only reached
UST around 10:45PM and because of sheer exhaustion I was asleep
during the ride.

I managed to get home around 11:00PM, took a quick dinner and
laid flat on my bed...

Zzzzzzzzzzzz...
